She has been awarded numerous awards including an Academy Award, a Tony Award, as well as nominations for three Primetime Emmy Awards.    Harden was born in San Diego's La Jolla region. She began her acting career on the 1980s on television shows. Her first film appearance was in the 1986 film Miller's Crossing, which the Coen brothers directed.
