Allyson Felix
Allyson Melissa Felix was born at Los Angeles, California on the 18th of November, 1985. Her father Paul Felix is an ordained Minister of the Master's Seminary, Sun Valley. Her mother Marlean Felix is a teacher at Balboa Magnet Primary School. Felix was a natural athlete and discovered her love for sprinting at Los Angeles Baptist High School. A mere 10 weeks after the initial time she tried out her skills, she placed second in 200m in the U.S. Indoor Track and Field Championship. Felix, who graduated high school in 2003, signed a sports contract with Adidas. She then was accepted into the University of Southern California and completed her studies in elementary education. Her first Olympic medal was won at the 2004 Summer Olympics held which took place in Athens Greece. Felix set an international junior record the 200m race in 22.18 seconds. The 2005 Helsinki World Championships saw her become the youngest woman to be crowned the winner of the 200-meter race. She defended this title and beat her Jamaican opponent Veronica Campbell. Felix consistently placed within the top third of each of her races in Beijing London Rio de Janeiro Tokyo.
